Inauguration Day 2017:A Manifesto inspired by Hafiz

We have not come to be taken prisoners by fear and a distorted truth.

We have not come into this exquisite world
to be held hostage by anger and violence.

We must walk away from anything and anyone
that clips our precious wings that want to fly.

We must walk away from anyone who cuts into our tender
hearts with the sharp knife of discrimination
dimming our divine light.

We have a duty to befriend the spirit within
that calls us again and again
to love and respect each other
in gratitude, and to honor our common humanity.

We have not come here to be taken prisoners.

We have not come here to have our voices silenced

We have come her to live fully
and experience ever more deeply
our divine courage and individual freedom.
