Sandwich Board

The neighbors are in accord,
wanting me t write on the board,
the board on the garden path,
right beyond the fence of lath.
Early in the morn I go there,
often with unkempt hair,
writing with chalk on blackground
wise sayings in books I have found
Some address issues of life,
calming those who live with strife,
others calling forth love
to be bestowed on us from above.
Some are read after
I hear hilarious laughter.
Someone might leave a note,
liking what I wrote,
asking for and more,
comments like that I adore.
