Pilgrimage
Some of us
are called,
called to travel
to distant lands
to bathe in the holiness of that place.
We are called
to walk among the poor
bearing the bread and water
of our humility.
We pray
kneeling in the shards
of our troubled life,
as we shed the many masks
we have worn for so long,
like snake skins
littering the dusty road.
Renewed
we return
this radiance carrying us forward
to celebrate the sacrament
in everything we do.
We welcome the grace
of each new day bowing,
bowing in gratitude to the Beloved.
