Garden visit

When my mood hardens
I go into my gardens.
The roses dispel my gloom
with their outrageous bloom,
the poppies leave me smiling so
with their heavenly golden glow,
the birds’ exuberant song
carries me right along.
My glance goes higher and higher
seeing them sitting on the wire
observing the distancing rule
they probably learned in birdie school.
Above it all the sky so blue
filling me with happiness anew.
